Rotavator Pre-Season Maintenance Checklist

Practical information for farmers, dealers and agricultural machinery users

A pre-season inspection gives you an opportunity to identify worn or damaged components before the busy period begins. Always park the tractor and implement safely, disengage the PTO, remove the key and wait for all moving parts to stop before inspection.

Inspect the blades

Check every blade for wear, cracks, bending and missing pieces. Confirm that the blade set and mounting direction match the implement specifications.

Check the PTO shaft

Inspect the shaft, yokes, joints, locking devices and guards. Confirm correct fitment and lubrication according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Examine nuts and bolts

Look for missing, loose, corroded or damaged fasteners. Replace them with the specified type and tighten using the recommended procedure.

Review the depth skid and side discs

Check for wear, cracks, bending and damaged mounting points. Confirm that adjustments move and lock as intended.

Inspect joints and driveline components

Check universal joints and related components for excessive play, damage or unusual movement. Arrange professional inspection if needed.

Check the overall implement

Review the gearbox, seals, oil level, rotor, shields and other components according to the operator’s manual. Do not operate equipment with damaged safety guards.
